Day 10: woke wednesdays

got woken up by Viv Tran at 7 when we usually leave the house at 7 and Tahnee and I got ready in the biggest panic omfg. Had breakfast at the cafeteria again whats new

had language class and was kinda hungover so didn't concentrate....... we got homework in the end which I did during Larry's lectures cus CEEBS Larry. had lunch at the cafeteria again cus whats new

then we continued making our variable voltage supplies but we were up to the harder part today. Amy and I smashed it tho!!! We connected our regulator up wrong because I forgot to double check the schematics for the pin order BUT whatever, we just desoldered it and swapped them around and bam worked when Will tested it.

everyone else was having so much trouble LMao i guess I'm just talented XD

yiyi actually went crazy at one point her partner just said "Fuck off" to no one when I suggested they start again???

Then went to the gym after uni. I worked out a little bit with Tahnee and Viv but I can't keep up with them cus they have so much existing muscle so I just ran on da treadmill. Played around with some of the gym equipment afterwards and jesus didn't know there were so many big machines designed to like target just one area of your body??

Headed to italian again afterwards at Trattoria Bello with Viv Tran, Tahnee, Yiyi and Alcuin (ONE OF THE GIRLS XDDDDD). He's this rich white boy in an asian's body from Sydney Grammar but he's always so energetic and brings the mood up.

Ordered the same pasta i got last time and also got a tiny bit wine drunk but it was a nice din :)

Day 11: turd thursdays

uhhhhhhhh had breakfast at cafeteria (baay sach-jruuk pong moan), class with the other Khmer teacher again (the not gay one) and went through homework and learnt some new sentence structures. Lowkey confused but she'll be right.

Everyone had lunch at the cafeteria but I bought street food (baay cha sach-ko pong moan), massaged a cat and then it vomited right in front of us omfg. We all Facebook stalked Ivor and were in awe of how much of a gazelle he was.

More class, almost fell asleep AGAIN ffs. Larry saw me dozing off so then he picked on me and asked me how to measure the leakage current from the chassis of an appliance -.- SO CEEBS

Alcuin and I were told that there were issues with our visas/passport and we had to leave class early to fix it FUCK YEAHH. Basically, when I first arrived in Cambodia the immigration officer gave me a stamp with the wrong date on it so my passport said my visa was valid for one year when it was only supposed to be one month. Had to go to the airport to fix it and basically went to the arrivals gate, then was redirected to the visa office, then was redirected back to the arrivals gate. 

One of the coordinators, Will, came with us as well and he's like sooooooooo nice and super chill. Found out so much more about him because usually he's a teacher figure to us and doesn't really talk much casually but he's probs not more than 2 years older?? Talked about travel, some of the other students (lol he openly said he thought that some people were more like challenged than others) and about his shower habits.

Anyway, had to be escorted back to the immigration part of the airport with a special VIP pass XDDDDDD, got it fixed, helped Will and Alcuin finish their food at HJs then went back to Alcuin's homestay.

Chilled there with Alcuin, Yiyi and White Dan and laughed with Alcuin about one of his tinder matches > > > > > > > > > we are the fallen chick XD

Then moved to the other room with like Evan and Anush. Stephen came back from his phresh haircut and delivered some sausage cheese crust PIZZA was fucking good. Tahnee and Viv Tran came back from Aeon Mall after their little shopping trip, then we all went home after the rain stopped!!

We had barbeque for our homestay dinner today omfg IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO yum the meat was actually high quality and not like chewy at at all?????

Monday

we made a flashlight boiiiiiiiiiiii and i lumosed the hell outta yiyi

we also learnt some directions from Tola our fabulous language teacher yesterday i fucken love him so much he's so funny

THEN WE WENT TO CENTRAL MARKET TO BUY OUR KK GIFTS LOL I GOT DOMINIC WHO IS A NOTORIOUS TROUBLE MAKER BUT I GOT HIM A NOTEBOOK, A BRACELET AND A LITTLE PIG BABY TOY CUS I HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO GET HIM AND SUCCUMBED TO PEER PRESSURE CUS EVERYONE DON'T REALLY LIKE HIM AND SAYS HE IS A CHILD SO I GOT HIM A KIDS TOY

anyway, we also had an assassin game going on so i had to stick with someone so i wouldn't get killed (little did I know Isaac was going to kill me the next day)

Tuesday (it chrit-mas!!!!!!!!)

we were just chilling on our lunch break and guess the fuck what white boy Isaac came up behind me as I was buying some pringles at our corner store next to our uni and was like "bang bang bitch you're dead" SO I DIED.

Tola taught us some adjectives today like short, tall etc and Viv Tran thirsted over a boy that was NOT hers. We also learnt how to say "we will come to the gay bar this weekend" to Tola, our Cambodian language teacher because he apparently does drag at a gay bar near our uni

then we made some power supply shit no one had no idea what the fk they were doing but it was hard as hell getting the wires where we needed them to be

LARRY'S LECTURE WAS SO BORING TODAY HE KEPT SAYING "LINEAR" WRONG LIKE WTF ARE YOU SAYING "lnear"

then we went to Yiyi's homestay with a curved LED flatscreen waht kinda luxury WHAT THE FUCK and watched half a black mirror episode some crocodile shit but then

WE HAD A CHRISTMAS DINNER WITH EVERYONE TODAY AND OMFG WHEN WE TUKTUK'D IT THERE FKN HELL WE SAW TOLA AND HE WAS SITTING NEXT TO A WHITE MAN AND WE WERE LIKE HAYYYYYYY SOUR S'DEY BITCH (HI IN CAMBODIAN) AND THEN HE INTRODUCED US TO HIS CALIFORNIA FIANCE WHOS NAME I FORGET FKN WHITEST BOI EVER (FROM CALIFORNIA HAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) BUT HELLLLLLLLLL NAH they were fucking C U T E.

Dinner was so lit we had like 3 wines in the space of an hour left right goodnight viv, Stephen and i were goodbye GONE 

NOW I AM BACK AT MY HOMESTAY CUS EVERYONE A PARTY POOPER EXCEPT FOR VIV TRAN but what can we do

this is the weirdest sensation i literally can't believe it is christmas today!!!!! literally zertoninin hellowwwwwwwwwww 

lolol WE DID KRIS KRINGLE AT OUR CHRISTMAS DINNER AND I GOT A BAR OF SOAP?!?!?!! reminds me of "I got a jar of dirt" but like dirty Cambodian version.

Cambodiyeet: Ultra

hello I really want to go Ultra AJ;DFAJSDLFKJASDLF

had the phattest sleep in today with all ma homestay peeps except for the chinese girl Lucy who woke up like 2 hours earlier than us and ruffled through her luggage and bajillion plastic bags to try to wake us up.

Went to this super western cafe in TK Avenue for breakfast and had some random sandwiches. Then tuktuk'd to The Royal Palace and met up with Yiyi, Stephen and Dan and found out we were dressed too thottily to be let in HAHAHAHHA like if your shorts are above your knees then GOODBYE you're a thot.

(turn it upside down if you don't get it you uncultured swine)

We all went to a nearby clothing store to buy non-thotty pants and omg I bought another two pairs of elephant pants hahaha. Then we entered the palace!! 

there were these really nice wall mural paintings 

but Stephen had to ruin them with his stupid snapchats omfg they were so funny tho

 Then tuktuk'd to Wat Phnom which is like one of the main temples in Phnom Penh and it was quite underwhelming but HAY was super shady cus of all the trees. Its literally over 30 degrees every single day here omfg going to come back crispy af.

Then walked to Olympus Market to find some scrubs. After some searching and asking the other peeps, we found the doctor store and all bought scrubs. The girls bought one light blue pair and one pink pair then managed to bait Stephen into getting a pink one as well XD

Then bye bye to Yiyi, Stephen and Dan and Tahnee, Viv and I went to an Italian place for dinner. The vibes were sooooooooooooo nice and you could tell it was a tourist place cus everyone there was white as fuck BUT it didn't matter. We ordered a cheese/meat platter and one pasta dish each and fk it was so fkn good. Got hella wine drunk on about 3 glasses each and had a mini dnm that was very nice and wholesome.

looks shit but blame my photog skills. They full had a guitarist and singer come in!! Was so nice.

 then tiramisu to finish off omfg was so good. About $20 AUD each

I really want to fkn go ultra holy fkn shit

Cambodiyeet: Solder On

Day 3

Another day of school lmao starting to feel the routine now. We swapped Khmer language teachers though and this one was a bit more dry but das ok, he was still more engaging than all the uni lecturers put together. Apparently teachers in Cambodia are held to a very high regard and I can kinda see why if all teachers are this good.

We learnt more food names and how to address the people in our homestay properly. 

During lunch break we went to check out a bicycle shop cus Stephen wanted to buy a secondhand bike, then went to convenience store and we all bought snacks them back to uni.

Had a two hour lecture on electrical safety, ventilators and oxygen concentrators how fun! ! ! !  The guy told us if we wanted to test if the ventilator worked, we should just put our mouths over it and inhale then the supervisor in the back was like 

Cambodia has one of the highest rates of tuberculosis in the world l m a o really dont wanna be putting this shit in our mouths.

The function of oxygen concentrators are so simple tho?? they literally suck through air which like passes through zeolite filters and then the nitrogen is filtered from the air leaving practically just the oxygen. ISSA COOOL!! 

Then moved onto soldering resistors onto a perf board and soldering a wire on to connect them which actually was not too hard o_o. Desoldering was the tricking part omfg. We did it the copper braid method and ffs was so frustrating.

 Headed to the local gym near our university afterwards and it was like the dingiest thing ever FK my pants are a different colour now. Tahnee showed us what she normally did when she worked out and we followed along but I'm unfit as hellllllllllllllllllllllll so tried my best to keep up but viv t was a boss and like smashed it out.

After we all died Stephen showed us how to punch and kick the bag!! 

Tuktuk'd to a shopping place near our homestay called TK Palace and took a scenic route this time for some reason?? but we passes these like big government buildings idk it was nice though.

 Got to TK, found a Chatime and had my milk tea cravings satisfied hehehe.

We kinda left the one Chinese girl in our homestay to fend for herself but felt very bad afterwards because she didn't know how to get home so lmaoooooooo won't be doing that again.

Day 4

Fuark today was so long

We had a long language class in the morning and everyone was so restless like Yiyi was continuously annoying Viv Tran next to me and I was struggling to concentrate on the giganormous list of verbs and nouns the teacher was trying to drill into us and Stephen was like freezing from the aircon idk

During lunch we went to buy Stephen's bike and the shop people kept saying he looked Japanese and pointed at the picture of Amy in Stephen's wallet then pointed at Viv Tran and said, "honey honey?" and Stephen was like nonono

Sat through long af lecture about electronics basics, suction pumps and theatre lights today. was so riveting. did a stupid lab measuring resistances, voltages and currents fml.

Then when we were finalyl done we went to Aeon Mall and ate burger king then bowled. Was feeling so self-conscious but it ok i didn't do too bad hehehe i came third after Alcuin and Yiyi. I dunno what to do with my hands or my body sometimes (all the time)

biggest struggle finding a tuktuk that would take us all the way back home but then we found one and he spoke pretty fluent english and I forgot for a sec so he stopped at a convenience store randomly and I said out loud "going for a shopping trip are we?" and he said "I'm very thirsty" and I felt so bad.

Anyway, had nice dinner with homestay fam. We gave them some vegemite to try and they didn't mind it!! They also tried tim tams and they said they were really yummy hahaha.

Then back in our room talking about mental health and other random things and Viv and Tahnee said they really couldn't relate to people with anxiety and depression / wanting to kill themselves andi  was just sitting htere like lmaooooooooo i mean its still not that bad but i feel like sometimes it is getting there

Day 5

went to kampong something to fix some machines or whatnot idk im super tired and super drunk

the bus ride there was hella long and i was sitting with my second month partner Amy!! Fell asleep then bam we were there. Was a little bit confronting because their hospitals are not hospitals.... people hold their IV drip bags above their own heads when they have to pee.

It was kinda like many diff buildings not connected??????? but yeah we worked on a few patient monitors to try get them to work. We got one fully functional by just swapping the parts out to make a frankenstein monitor but it was all good in the hood. It was so good in the hood that the doctor told us that he wanted to use it in surgery right away so we had to speed clean it then like chuck it into the OR??? Cambodia is the most DIY place ever omfg. also holy fuck IT WAS SOOOOOOOOO HOT we were all dying

We had lunch at this random place near our hospital but it was super yum and had a western toilet with a toilet paper roll next ti it!!!!!!

Then we went back to the hospital to pretend to fix mroe things and look at other people fix things then we went back to the uni...

Then yeet went to Cousin's Burger which was this super french western burger place and had the best mothafuckin food we've had since we arrived in Cambodai omfggggggg THE FRENCH COOK WAS SO NCIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and the food was so nice asdkfja;sdklfj;alksjdfsj;fakjs cider was questionable but das ok he gave us extra garlic aioli to try and can i= just saY YUM

 then we went to a random cambodian bar down bassac lane and got super drunk HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA i chundered not cus i was drunk but because the vodka shot just touched something deep inside of me but it was fucking FUN

Day 6

Visited the Tuol Sleng Prison and Killing Fields today to learn some more about Cambodian history.

Tuol Sleng was first and it was basically a prison and torture camp in the middle of the capital city of Cambodia O_O. We got a little like audio guide thing to listen to as we were walking through the prison. Thought it was a lil bit confronting but not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Then we had lunch at a random restaurant nearby and tuktuk'd to the killing fields. Almost fell asleep on my coordinator so many times.

The Killing Fields were were the prisoners from Tuol Sleng were taken to be executed in these big pits. Since they wanted to save time + money, they just knelt like a row of prisoners on the edge of a pit then whacked them with a hammer or smth and let them die in the pit. Babies were slammed against trees to kill them omfg

the tower here was filled to the brim with the skulls and bones of victims

What an exhausting day!! We are going to sleep super early today
