26/27 August

Celebrated Tammy's birthday with most of HS group. It was v v v chill. We had dinner at Sushi Samurai and we just all shared rice dishes. Walked back to the air bnb and Feng said the best joke she's ever said. If you don't know her, her go-to reply is "you know what else is __________?" and the blank is whatever adjective we were talking about before.

Cut the cake, played some card games incl. Tammy's effort/10 homemade good vs bad game that tipsy people were shit at following. Played King's cup. Went to the club sober which is always fun! 

Still had a good time at Embassy though. Some vsa/unsw person was having a birthday party that night so a lot of them kicked on there. Would not go again though. The music was pretty shit and entrance was $25 riperin0pe.

Went back to air bnb and had a very peaceful sleep. Then had pancakes at Harbourside for breakfast (would die for Bluberry Heaven) and Tammy drove us to Sefton station.

Computing Assignment

Had a mechatronics computing assignment due yesterday and that was consuming my life for the 2 days leading up to it. Computing is actually like all your own learning like if you don't have friends you're basically fucked. I was messaged 2 people continuously for the past few days cus I had no FUCKING CLUE how to even start ?? like how to create an object class and what should go into the private/public class I literally had 0 clue. And I would get stuck then spend an hour trying to figure out what was wrong then I'd figure it out then cry cus it would be like a tiny typo or I was putting getState(); in the wrong place.

Ended up getting 16.5 / 20 which should've been 18.5 but lost two marks because I booked my assessor too late HAHAHA. There was a deadline that Stephen and I both missed because we don't go to lectures gg. So lucky though because Sandy sent me the exact functionality I had to implement in my exam so I got 4.5/5 for that part. I bullshitted answering the questions soooooooo hard.

So happy I am DONE with this assignment. Like the final result is so cool but getting there was quite the nightmare.

There is so much shit due in the next week I should be doing some work...

1. The entire... Dragonpit scene (half the ep)??

All the reunions and all the banter!!! There were like 15 characters all meeting at one time O M G honestly just watching them walk around in the background whilst Jon and Dany were talking made me laugh so much. This cast is absolutely insane. I'm in awe by how they managed to cast such PERFECT actors for the characters. I cannot imagine any other people playing the roles of the main characters like cannot even fathom. um Jon and Dany are like fucking both attractive af how could u even pick them 7 years ago???? What kind of show?!?!?!?!? I'm just totally so happy and thankful that this exists and these characters exist.

Just redeemed the entire 7th season like this was the juiciness missing from GOT. Just two hella good actors going at it with almost seven seasons of character development to draw from.  WHEN TYRION WAS PROVOKING HER WITH EVERYTHING THAT HE'S DONE I WAS JUST LIKE ACT DINKLAGE ACT!!!

5. Jaime has finally left

Deadset thought Cersei was going to kill Jaime for a second there cus she spared Tyrion before omfg. That scene when the snow started falling as he was leaving so soooooooooo pretty. Theon falling on the sand was beautiful as well.

saw my childhood friend Kathy at the station today and took the train together to Central. We keep bumping into each other every like 2 years or so. Didn't have an awkward conversation because she's one of those self-assured people that have very good conversational skills and there's no nervousness at all. I admire those people so much if you can't tell. Anyway we were talking about uni and work and reminiscing a little bit then joked that in 5 years maybe we'll see each other again and I'll be doing radiography.

This movie delves into the reality of marriage and what happens to a relationship when you know someone THAT well and there's no more discovery... just two people trying to co-exist with each other. The last half an hour shook me so good I was crying real tears over this relationship that spanned 3 movies and 18 years and honestly hated both of them at certain parts of the movie because of all the hurtful things they were saying to each other. Was crushed by his speech at the end when he started talking as Celine from the future and I was just thinking... wow they will both be 80 someday and I hope they'll still be together and in love :(

DEFINITELY THE REALEST / LEAST ROMANTIC OF THE 3 which is why I didn't like it as much like I watch movies cus I'm dead inside and want to escape for a few hours don't make me question whether love is real

still this was sooooooo fucking good. Feels like the filmakers aren't even doing anything its so natural... but its scripted and the camera is moving. Unlike other movies, the Before Trilogy doesn't feel like it's being made for you. You just happen to be there.

Weinstein company always doing such a shit job like they only have enough resources to promote one movie and they're choosing The Current War over Mary Magdalene which makes complete sense because a historical movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch is going to bring in way more money than some wishy washy emotional retelling of a biblical figure which is 100000% going to be controversial BUT my issue is WHY BAIT ME LIKE THIS?!?!?! 400th post

Monday

Had sweatshop for my event. There was a team prepping the veggies, another team making nem nuong patties, Vivian fried the patties, I cooked the vermicelli... and Andy did his solidworks assignment HAHHA rip. Lily cut her finger and I was about to put a band-aid on until she stopped me and said "wait I need to snap this to Bhav" -.-

Selz and cousin Amy went to buy KFC for dinner and they bought wayyyy too much food cus wings were on special. There was nowhere to sit in my house so everyone just sat on the floor in the living room. My afro haired auntie knocked on my door so many times and just started shouting Chinese and JoKhang couldn't stop laughing. Goo-Ma seems so psychotic to strangers. 

Anyway they cleaned up as best they could and left at around 11 pm. I washed whatever dishes were left over and had to put away the tables and take out the bin. Made the fish sauce and I tasted it so many times that I forgot what real nuoc mam tasted like. Mopped the entire downstairs and then it was like 2am. Felt so tired after cooking and cleaning all day.

Me telling the vsa people who came that there was v little mess and there was barely anything to clean up vs me telling other people the house was disgusting after they left

Tuesday

Nem nuong event was quite the success!! We were so generous with the servings at the beginning then 20 mins in we realised we were almost halfway through all our ingredients so we got a lot more stingy. 

Had Paul run down to IGA halfway through the event, buy more carrots and Phuc/Paul grated them on the spot. Paul transferred to UNSW from Cumbo and he was a v prominent PR in his Cumbo VSA so he technically isn't UNSW VSA but he always helps out??

Still unsure whether Jo wants to kill me or be friends with me. Went to microwave some nem nuong meat with her and struggled to keep the convo going cus I feel like she hates everything I say but idk she was also joking around with me at the event like I asked her so nicely to go promo and she was like "DON'T BE LIKE DAREN" and we laughed but also she's so scary

Finished serving at 1:30 and packed up by 2.

Skipped BIOM lecture and chilled on the grass with Niina and Jason. So wholesome.

Met up with Feng + FD aftewards, had dinner at Arisun and meet fresh. Stayed back at UTS building 5 till 10 "studying" with Connie and Bonnie.

Wednesday

Went to uni for my MMAN lab, then tried to start my computing assignment. Stephen and I realised we already lost 2 marks for it cus we didn't contact our assessors in time gg. Then had lunch at 22 grams with Amy and Stephen. Was pretty nice!! The cupcake we had was sooo good it was like raspberry and cream cheese. 

Went Ainsworth Building to study and randomly saw phuc, andy wang and vlydam. Amy and I went to Town Hall afterwards to get her stationary then went home. Made the stupid pizza gif u see below, then tutored Kevin. Was chill.

DEFY THEM

Hung out with the girl from Chicago and I was chill because she told me last night some other people were coming along. Met them at Pho Ann and had a good feed then walked around and bought them some classic Cabra food like pandan waffles and sugar cane juice. There was this guy called Chip from the Czech Republic lmao he seems like a typical rich Vietnamese boy but damn international students are all so nice. 

They were really really surprised that the pho noodles were "fresh"? I don't even know what not fresh noodles are??? They've all been to more places around Sydney than I have HAHAH. Um they asked me which clubs are good etc and I never go clubbing so I was like well all the Asians hang out at Sanctuary. I'm expecting Chip to frequent there from now on so be prepared for a wealthy European Viet boy to sweep you off your feet with this 10/10 pickup line

Had to lug 8kg of nem nuong meat to my car which was parked on the highest carpark level. It was quite the struggle. I see so many of my tutor kids out in Cabramatta ummm not sure what to say when I see them sometimes I wave sometimes I swerve.

Holy moly here we go again, blogging instead of catching up on 4 weeks of mechatronics.

Friday was my uncle's funeral. My mum told me to bring tissues but I was like there's no way I'm going to cry. When I arrived at the funeral place in Rookwood, so many people already had red eyes and the mood was so sombre. My mum told me to go up and look at his body and I caught and glimpse and was like nope. I can't deal looking at people that aren't alive anymore it creeps me out and I feel like they're about to just spring up and be like Hi IT'S JUST A PRANK! He was really shiny. He was loved by the entire Chinese community in our area and there were so many people that showed up that there weren't enough seats and half the people had to stand.

I love hearing speeches from people that knew him best because he never really told us his stories. I just knew him as a quiet man who occasionally needed help with photoshop. He helped so many people with their visa applications to get to Australia, he taught people English, he helped my mum translate to Mandarin, he struggled to survive in a Cambodian concentration camp for 4 years and in his last few days he bought car insurance for his daughter without her even knowing. He said, "Don't be sad. I'm so lucky. I should've died when I was 20."

Manly's speech tho. So beautiful and everyone was sobbing uncontrollably. "I am the man I am today because of my dad." His speech was in English until the very end when he finished off in Cantonese because as his dad would say, "SPEAK CHINESE". I didn't have tissues so had to use my dad's scarf.

At the end they played his favourite song and encouraged us all to sing along to it but it was in Chinese. There was one woman who was absolutely killing it and belting it out an octave higher then after the song ended she broke down and started wailing. Everyone had to leave a single flower at his casket and pay our final respects then that was it.

rip uncle hope you're up in heaven pulling up your long af socks and playing some ping pong.

On a less serious note I saw BOTH my past English tutors from my early high school years. They're both teachers at Canley Vale that my auntie somehow roped into tutoring us Carramar kids in my neighbour's garage every Monday after school back when I was in year 7-9. We had Sue first and then Janine. I was such a total shit to both of them. Legit Sue was so unfulfilled from teaching us I think she left after a month or something. Then Janine came along (they're very good friends) and taught us for a couple of years. Janine took Cynth, Nance and Tian all the way through HSC lmao whilst Amy, Yuan and I sat at the end of the table eating shapes and drawing on each others' books. Such fond memories. We paid her $20 EACH for 1.5 hours thats like $160 dollars for her to teach us nothing HAHAHA it was so chill tho and Janine was so.... ceebs? It was fun though we would have such random conversations and occasionally I would surprise her by putting effort into what I was doing. I still randomly remember things she would say to me like, "So when you watch a movie, you're just watching it blindly and not noticing how the filmmaker is making you feel what you're feeling?" and as I kid I was so baffled. I was like uhhhh no I just watch movies cus they're fun.

I saw Sue first and was so shocked cus I didn't even recognise her and she asked Cynth, "Is this who I think it is?!" lmao. Hugged her, said hi and she called me SHORT-STOP cus I used to be this tiny little thing. She kept talking to the older siblings and I went to the side to talk to Yuan then when I go back I REALISE JANINE IS THERE AS WELL like I completely ignored her before cus I didn't recognise her and I just wave and laugh and they call me short-stop some more whatever that means. I miss being a kid and being evaluated in kid standards. Now "an adult" I have no excuses to be a shit anymore HAHAHA.
