Cambodiyeet: 1st Month Ends

The mood is depressing. I am playing the sad songs 😢 playlist out loud as I write this...

Today is our last day in Phnom Penh and the end of our first month in Cambodia. Tomorrow, I'll be on a bus to a country town in the middle of fucking nowhere with only one person and like not even sure if I like her atm. Bye homestay friendos :( bye da gurlz and boys who have made this trip so fun so far. The past two days have been so fun but like anxiety about the second month has been in the back of my mind. Also doesn't help that I missed Amy Lim's birthday yesterday and squad hangs today :((((((((((((((((( just fkn sad

Yesterday (10/1)

Had breakfast at cafeteria for the last time... baay sach jruuk pong dtea whats new. Had last language class with Tola THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD and it was legit such a mixture of fun and sad. He went through more common words we might use at the hospital, then we did a kahoot game. Stephen won but we don't know for sure because there were so many connectivity issues when we were playing xDDD

Then had an oral test with Tola where he asked common questions in Khmer and we had to answer them in Khmer. We just chilled outside the classroom whilst we were waiting for our turn and studied a bit.

took some photos in the courtyard cus we were matching that day hehehe
I was kinda nervous for my turn even though it was supposed to be a totally chill thing hahha. His presence is just so calming but at the same time he stares into your fucking soul. He asked about the province I was going to next month and when I said Preah Vihear he was like, "you'll definitely need your notebook" BECAUSE NO ONE FUCKING SPEAKS ENGLISH but she'll be right.

Then we went to lunch at Sorya but they called us back to take a group photo.

Then Ivor invited Tola to have lunch with us (our cambo squad, basically me, stephen, alcuin, ivor, yiyi, viv and tahnee) and we decided on Carl's Jnr.

Lunch was so litty omfg I got The Classic and it was sooooooooo yum but what was more litty was Tola telling us so many things about his life that he hadn't before. Idk I just really feel like he is a 10/10 complete person and is just so good. Everyone's sleeping right now and my typing is really loud so I'll try to paraphrase this. Some dot points from the conversation:
  • he was exposed a big fat gay when some British guy uploaded a photo of them kissing onto Facebook and his family saw but they were actually pretty nice about it. then he came out, met his fiance on Grindr lmfao his fiance was an English teacher temporarily living in Cambodia but after they met, the fiance wanted to stay - hello fucking cute
  • Tola is a secretary for the PRINCESS OF CAMBODIA???????????? He was one of 400 applicants and he got the job. He basically teaches us Khmae in the morning, then goes to his secretarial job, then studies at uni late at night, then goes to Blue Chilli's to be a drag queen lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooooooo what an inspiration. He has also met the King once and apparently they are sisters now.
  • He told us that our class was so much better than the other class and he kept wishing that he had our class on the days when he was teaching the other class. SO CUTE. He also thought that he wasn't as good as teaching as the other teacher and we were all like WTF his teaching style is so much better.
We said goodbye to Tola and were super sad. Back to uni, Larry did some revision on some medical machines, we did some last minute admin stuff then onwards!! Went to central market to get the supreme cat shirt because Vivian wanted it, then went to Stephen's homestay to watch harry potter 6. We got like 40 mins into it before we had to go back to our homestay for our baby's 1ST BIRTHDAY!!!! Bought her a taro cake from breadtalk.
We thought it would just be like a small dinner but no when we arrived home, there were like cousins and aunties and uncles everywhere. Was feeling a bit ceebs to socialise but it ended up being really fun.
While Tahnee and Viv were upstairs getting ready for our night out, we spoke to Phanna our homestay dad and he told us more about how active him and his wife used to be and it was really chill and nice.

Then Tahnee and Viv came down dressed like thots and we went to this super duper nice casino to meet the other homestays.
Then skrrt skrrt'd to Basaac Lane. Had a tequila shot at Red Bar, then went to Party Patio and got absolutely fucked. So many tequila sunrises and beer omg. We played King's cup with Adam's rules and they were so much better than the rules I'm used to. I forgot at one point that I was thumbmaster lmfao. Made Lucy take a shot because she'd never taken one before. In her chinese accent she was like, "that wasn't too bad".

then when we were all sufficiently drunk, we ran through the streets of Phnom Penh to get to this random ass nightclub with really bad music. we were literally running and like screaming through the streets. Viv and I went to the bathroom and it was legit the nicest bathroom I have ever seen. It had hairstraighters and combs for you to use. Someone escorted us to a specific toilet cubicle lmfao.

then HOTPOT was the bst fucking hotpot EVER. The only sober person, lucy ordered for us and she only ordered two plates of meat initially and it wasn't fucking enough so we ordered more. It was also like self serve sauces and our drunk asses got the worst shit ever BUT THE STAFF WERE SO NICEEE and gave us all bowls of a nice mix of sauces.
Then we all went homeeeeeeeeeee. I literally talked to the tuktuk driver the whole way back in my fluent as fuck khmer XD

viv had no eyebrows on and i took the funniest video
nek ort mian means "you don't have" in khmer

Today (11/1)

Woke up, did the laundry then headed out to Aeon Mall 2. IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BIG like honestly we were all so shook
We had Carl's Jnr again hehehe.
then we went downstairs and found this cool indoor play area thing with rackets and archery and ping pong tables AND I FULL FLEXED MY BADMINTON SKILLS xD. Stephen lost the only arrow for the archery thing ya yeet
look at my form tho
Then went to get chatime, walked around for a bit and then we said our goodbyes :( Stephen legit looked like he was about to cry. Also lmfaooooo when Tahnee, Viv and I were walking to the tuktuk, they expected us to turn around and look back but we didn't and they were hurt hahahhahaha.

Went to TK Avenue to buy necessities for second month, and also to buy ingredients to cook for our homestay fam. We planned on making them some pasta with ice cream for dessert!! Got home, then started cooking. Making the sauce was actually the easy bit lmfao. It didn't take us long at all and it was nice just spending time with each other before we left for gucci. Even Lucy was joking around with us.

Then when it came time to make the pasta, I thought we were swimming in time so I just chucked tap water into the pot and waited for it to boil knowing full well that doing it in the kettle would be faster. We waited like 20 mins for the water to boil and it still wasn't boiling then we realised the gas ran out lmfao. Dun goofed real good. Phanna said there was no more gas at all so we had to kinda let the pasta sit in boiling water like migoreng. The cousin/brother found gas in the end tho and the pasta quickly cooked after that.

THEN DINNER TIME!!! First time eating dinner in Phanna's actual room with a TV. We brought out the wine as well and Phanna said it was "weak" then 20 mins later he said, "ooh I'm feeling it" and he bright red and got hella chatty HAHHAHA SO CUTE. He showed us the Cambodian band his wife used to be in, and the tv-series his mother acts in. FUCKING WHACK ASS TALENTED FAMILY.

At the same time, kept getting these kawaii as fuck drunk texts from phuc's thots and felt so loved
Anyway, we gave them ice cream as well and they seemed so happy hehehe. Was feeling hella sad after that and just played sad music while we were packing up our luggages for the next month. idk just such a weird feeling not knowing what is going to come in the second month.

here my cat being cute
