Cambodiyeet: Last Day of Classes

Yesterday

Today was our last day of official like learning classes. The month flew by sooooo quickly I'm actually in disbelief ya thots
had breakfast at the cafeteria again but got two eggs and no pork instead wow changing it up son! Also got the green tea iced latte thing and u g h soooooo good ima keep getting it till the day I die! i.e. Friday because thats the last day at uni.

Had the funniest Khmer class EVER today. We were all sitting in the back corner and just taking stupid ass snapchats whilst we were going around individually reading like 2 pages of sentences. We were getting sooooooooooo bored when Viv was about to read
and when Alcuin was reading ESPECIALLY ALCUIN WHO TOOK SO FUCKING LONG because he didn't pay attention before when the teacher was going through it. The teacher literally talked to someone outside of the classroom because Alcuin was so taking so long.
Then it was my turn and everyone in our row started having a laughing fit and I was like 3 lines in and Tahnee next to me started laughing but tried to hide it and then I started cracking up and couldn't read anymore. This happened like 3 times.... the teacher was laughing with us tho. even then, compared to Alcuin I sped through ittttt XD
Learnt the Khmer words for some common tools and consumables we might need in our second month where people don't speak as much English.

Power walked to Cousin's Burgers for lunch rd 2. SOOOOOOOO good!! I got the superior burger this time i think it was called and u g h so juicy, sauces amazing just yum.
Stayed awake long enough in Larry's lecture to learn that we shouldn't work on ESUs and defibrillators because they draw too much current. Then we had a quiz to test us on what we had learned over the last month. Was not too bad but I forgot a lot of the maths to do with charging batteries lmfao.

We then did a scavenger hunt to find things for our second month. Most of us took tuktuks to the Russian Market to look for errything and like went around asking the vendors where to find shit by pointing at pictures HAHAAHA. Ended up buying quite a few things like wire strippers, WD-40, brushes, solder, steel wool and some other things. Then we went back to uni to report back to Jess and Will then went to Stephen's homestay again.

We watched Hush. Twas not too scary hahaha but I'm just a little bitch. Didn't like the lack of character development of basically everyone in the movie. But was fun quick watch.

then we went to dinner with some UNSW COFA kids who were also in Cambodia for a course. But like we arrived late so we had our own table and didn't have to socialise yeet. Another cat was touched by rabies bitch.
We were all hella tired so just went home afterwards. Slept kinda late because idk what we were doing?? Tahnee was braiding Viv's hair, I showed them my blog and they were like da fuq

Thursday

Last "practice" hospital visit today and it was such a productive one omfg.
Got there and Phanna the biomed engineer asked who had WD-40 and I just bought it so I was like yeet and then he told me to come with him to the maternity ward. Angelo, this big Filipino boy was dragged along as well.

We pulled out two delivery beds from the delivery room (mothers who just gave birth were just looking us in our green scrubs like um ok) and Phanna half fixed one of the beds for us. We finished it and cleaned it then tried to fix the second one but it was like sooooooooooooooooooooo rusted the mechanism to elevate the bed wouldn't budge. So we took it apart, tried to clean it but it still wouldn't work.

Angelo literally got a hammer and started whacking the shit out of it and the turny thing finally moved. We both worked on each end and it took us like a solid hour with Stephen's help to get the things turning properly. Oh yes Stephen also split his pants when he was trying to get the thing to move HAHAHHAHAHA. Was tiring but FUCKING SATISFYING when we finally got it.
We cleaned the fuck out of it and got so much rust/dried blood on ourselves. Was hoping it wasn't bodily fluids or blood but when we chucked our used gloves on the ground and came back from lunch there were ants just eating at them .. .   .. . ..  . .. . .. .
This was the delivery room.... there were four of these things just next to each other so if there is more than one mum giving birth they are literally 2 metres apart from another screaming mum. thats fucked
One of the table legs was missing a rubber foot thing so we made a temporary one out of paper, a glove and a zip tie lmfao. how janky does this look
at the end of the day, we waited like 1.5 hours for another group to finish fixing their machine. Was bored out of our minds lmfaoooo and had planned to call Niina before so I did and we just trololololed. Was a good time.
Then coached back to uni, dropped off our tools and took a tuktuk home.

Had a nice dinner with Phanna and he told us more about our second month hospitals, BMETs and homestays. Apparently my homestay didn't really want to host this year because she was hella busy but the other option was me staying at the hospital and helllll nah so she agreed.

Phanna also told us a story about an EWH student a few years ago who was staying in the hospital he was working in. One night there was like heaps of rain and a big traffic accident so the power was out whilst heaps of people were being rushed into the hospital. For some reason he volunteered to carry the dead bodies into the morgue hall?? the fuck right. Anyway, he was carrying a dead body and opened the door to the morgue in the dead of the night and then a mentally disabled person like bolted out of the morgue lmfaoooooooooooooooooo. He dropped the body and ran away omg. Relatable. But seriously who volunteers to help carry dead bodies in the first place.

Getting more anxious about my second month now... and tbh not even homesick anymore lol I'm literally dreading getting back to uni and dealing with my mental shit again

doesn't help that we get back to Syd literally 3 days before uni starts like wtf -.-
