Arrived in Kyoto yesterday. We are airbnb-ing with this really nice old lady!! She has 3 kids and she sent them all off the Australia for University so she lives by herself now. She used to live in Sydney 40 years ago!!
I will probably do some proper blog posts about our Japan trip but for now I'll just dump a few things here. I rowed my way up Kyoto station today.
Left way too early to go to Kyomizu Temple (arguably the most famous temple in Japan?) and it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It was lightly snowing, trees were beginning to turn white, the water was super calm JUST ugh. LOVE KYOTO SO FARRRR its so pretty. After a while though we began to freeze and complain about our wet socks.
Me being constantly upstaged by my parents...what's new though. They went to Japan last year.
Then we went to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and the Monkey Mountain. Both were pretty good experiences. I storied THE FUNNIEST SNAP but I don't think anyone got it pls watch this
What a magical bamboo forest wowwwwwww
THE MONKEYS WERE SO FUCKING SCARY LOOKING but the baby ones were so clumsy and cute. Like this one baby monkey kept trying to climb the ropes in the background but it was too unco so it slipped and the older ones that were just chilling kept looking down at it disapprovingly. Our feet legit almost froze though it was so cold. View of Kyoto was shit because it was foggy.
Went to Nishiki market which was a low-key disappointment. There wasn't as much food as we thought there would be. A lot of the food was seafood which we don't really like. Had a shit af okonomiyaki, egg rolls, soy bean ice-cream, tamarind mochi, crispy rice-cake, milk cheese croquette... ok I ate a lot of food but it was ok.
THIS WAS REALLY YUMMY THOUGH it was warabimochi covered in freshly ground green tea YUMM0 they put a bit too much powdered green tea but it was still so goooood.Went to comme de garçons for so long to buy shirts and decided it was too late to go anymore shrines so we went to Kyoto station to look at the views and chill. Had this ramen which was like 8.5/10. I think ramen is my favourite food in Japan YOU CAN'T GO WRONG its so hot and salty and slurping the broth at the same time as the noodles... as ladbible says: just stab me with a fork
We went to this green tea cafe nearby to chill after our phat feed and just talked for a bit. We were like "if you were to date someone from our grade who would it be?" We basically ran through the list of the our entire grade and said yay or nay but were being super judgemental and giving one sentence summaries of their personality HAHAHA like we all associate each person with a certain "event" e.g. remember when Shumi's lung collapsed, Edie had a Beatles poster on her locker, Ashlin wrote notes on orange paper so she would stay awake, Pritha had crazy nails, Josie was AWOL...
Her rn: "everything can go wrong so quickly just like that"
